Chestnuts 2021

Chestnuts 2021

As we have said so many times, the weather patterns and the affect they have on the chestnut trees is so unpredictable.   The few fruit trees we have at the orchard lost flowers to a late freeze--no peaches, no plums, no cherries, no pears, just a few apples.  But chestnuts bloom in early June and the flowering was profuse.  Now we are seeing lots of burs in the trees.  Perhaps we will have a large harvest, but we have also learned not to count our chickens too soon!

We will be needing some hearty souls to enjoy fall in the orchard and help gather the harvest.  We gather all daylight hours, 7 days a week, about mid-September to mid-October.  Come join us!  Click on the "harvest help wanted" tab for a contact form and further information.
